Legends of Tomorrow: Dominic Purcell Returns, Blames Press; Post Gone
We think it would be safe to say that this not exactly how Warner Bros. or The CW's press and media relations folks were expecting to spend their Saturdays- but then again, we have DC's Legends of Tomorrow star Dominic Purcell and Instagram. So if you've been following along, you know that Purcell posted about leaving the series and how it had to do with being angry at the studio. Well, it turns out he's not so much leaving as not returning on a full-time basis and that all of the other stuff he posted was all just jokes- and he apparently enjoyed making the "snowflake generation" upset. Here's a look at the original post:
"WHY SO SERIOUS——I needed a laugh and got one fooled ya!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂…… Everyone's losing their mind. No issue with studio. Or anyone. Wanted a laugh. Now I know I am loved 🤣🤣……but yes I am leaving [DC's Legends of Tomorrow] on a full time basis but have every intention of coming back periodically just not full season," Purcell wrote in a revised caption to his Instagram post revealing the punchline. "It's a handshake deal with me and Phil Klemmer my boss.I love the character and Mick. Love the cast. So funny how the press jump down shit. wow the snowflake generation a touchy world. [Warner Bros. TV] sorry for freaking u out. Nice negotiation tactic😉🤣. …."
Well, apparently, the "joke" was so funny it got taken down:
Then Purcell returned with another revision- this one not quite as abusive towards the fans. You'll notice the "snowflake" line is missing: "WHY SO SERIOUS. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣……. MY last post needed a laugh. It was a joke and The 😂……. press went nuts. ….Look I am leaving @cw_legendsoftomorrow but will come back periodically it's a handshake deal with my boss Phil Klemmer. I don't have a beef with studio 😂😂😂🤣 @warnerbrostv don't have a beef with anyone. Shit woke up this morning like I'd caused mass #riots …. But what genius negotiating move. I am loved. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣"
Now you're probably thinking to yourself, "Okay, that's gotta be it, right?". Hold on, not so fast… because then Purcell posted yet another revision. In this edition, Purcell is now going the "blame the press" route to explain his initial post (that feels like it was ten years ago at this point). Apparently, Purcell thinks reporting on the star of a show taking to social media to publicly quit that show is "click-bait"- while others would argue that would constitute news (and question what would be to gain from created unnecessary drama during the same week in which their show has had a great start to its pre-season rollout)- and make sure to check out that odd teaser at the end.
"WHY SO SERIOUS. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣……. MY last post I needed a laugh. It was a joke and The press went nuts and yes I will always fuck with the press it's fun watching them be click-bated— Truth is yes I am leaving @cw_legendsoftomorrow but will come back periodically, it's a handshake deal with my boss Phil Klemmer," Purcell wrote (writing at a rate that should make George R.R. Martin fans jealous). "I don't have a beef with studio @warnerbrostv. 😂🍻I don't have a beef with anyone except myself haha. …Shit woke up this morning like I'd caused mass #riots …. emails , phone calls. But what a genius negotiation move. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣….. ps. My dear friends the press got a great one for ya next week. Ya gonna love it. 🤣"
As we write this line, btw? The post was taken down…
