Superman Unchained Is "Ultimate Superman" – It's Lois Lane's Time To Shine
It's become a habit at one comic convention to talk about what you'll be doing at another comic convention.
At the DC All Access Panel today at Wondercon, the DC COmcis representatives talked more about Batman Day, celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Batman on July 23rd. Which, handily, happens the day before San Diego Comic Con starts.
But they wanted to remind the crowd what they were doing with Superman this summer as well. DC co-publisher and artist Jim Lee talked about Superman Unchained #6 and the re-emergence of Lois Lane. And describing the story with issue 7 as the "Ultimate Superman story".
Good thing Senior VP DC Sales Bob Wayne wasn't there, he's have really winced that that once -he's talked in the past about removing "ultimate" from DC solicitation after DC solicitation…
He described Lois Lane as a huge part of the mythology, even as she seems to being placed in the background in the main books, preferring the Superman/Wonder Woman relationship. But issue 7 will, it seems give her a critical role in the book, alongside Jimmy Olsen, as the book "broadens out beyond Superman" who becomes an "avenging hero" with issue 7, after an attack on his Fortress Of Solitude, Batman and the Batcave.
And with Wonder Woman on the cover, that just makes things even more intriguing, doesn't it?
Basically, Lois Lane fans who feel that, even with a one shot, the good lady reporter is a bit of a bit player? Your time has come.
Look forward to Bleeding Cool EIC Hannah Means Shannon's full report to come later.
