'Power': Starz Ups Larenz Tate To Series Regular With Season 5
With crime drama-thrill Power having just wrapped-up it's fourth season, Starz isn't wasting any time making moves for the show's Season 5 with the announcement that Larenz Tate (Rescue Me, House of Lies) will be joining the cast as a series regular beginning with the fifth season. Introduced over the course of four episodes during Season 4, Tate's Councilman Rashad Tate will be a major player in Power's fifth season..
Power follows James "Ghost" St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), owner of popular New York City nightclub, Truth. While struggling to make something legitimate from his businesses, Ghost is also a major player in one of the city's biggest illegal drug networks. Struggling to balance both lives while holding together his marriage with Tasha (Naturi Naughton), Ghost realizes that the only way for him to take back control of his life is to leave his criminal enterprise behind. But there are those who have too much invested in Ghost to see him walk away from it all…and others that will do anything to deprive Ghost of any semblance of a "happily ever after." So before he can say goodbye to the past, Ghost is going to need to take power one more time…
Power was created by Courtney A. Kemp, who also serves as the series' showrunner and executive producer. Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Mark Canton, Randall Emmett and Gary Lennon also serve as executive producers.
Apart from his role as Bart "Black Shawn" Johnston on FX's Rescue Me, Tate also recently starred in NBC's Game of Silence and Showtime's House of Lies. He's currently filming the ABC drama pilot Salamander, and is finishing post-production on the comedy film Business Ethics.
Power first premiered in 2014, with Starz renewing the series for a fourth and fifth season in July 2016. The show recently wrapped Season 4, with the fifth season scheduled for some time in 2018:
