Roxane Gay is Working on a Secret New Comic Book Series
Bestselling author Roxane Gay's World of Wakanda may have been quietly canceled by Marvel back in February, but in addition to working on a Lumberjanes story with BOOM! Studios, Gay is returning to comics for a brand new series. Gay announced the news on Twitter (as noticed by Newsarama):

However, this project is being kept tightly under wraps for now. No word on the publisher or artist, but Gay did reveal the concept:

In addition to her career as a writer that includes the best-selling 2014 essay collection Bad Feminist and a doctoral degree in rhetoric and technical communication, Gay was one of three women who became the first Black women to ever write a print comic for Marvel last year (Nilah Magruder was the first Black Women to write a Marvel comic published digitally). Yes, until 2016, no Black women had ever written for Marvel comics. Technically speaking, we're pretty sure more Marvel comics have been written by white men pretending to be Japanese than have been written by Black women. But at least it's progress.
We're looking forward to learning more about Gay's new project as soon as that artist is signed on, and we're rooting for it to be creator-owned!
