J Scott Campbell Published His Own Captain Marvel Covers

J Scott Campbell is one of the best-selling comic book artists today – even though he doesn't seem to create comic books anymore. His Spider-Man story with Jeph Loeb remains in limbo.

But his work is still much in demand and so he is a constant favourite for variant covers. However, as has been shown, his style of good girl art has proved controversial in the past, including his portrayal of Mary Jane Watson and of Riri Williams, with a cover that was pulled and replaced by Midtown Comics after concern expressed for that portrayal of a teenage character.

One thing Campbell has been doing of late, however, is license his own exclusive variant covers directly from publishers which he is then able to sell at a premium, directly.

Which means with the launch of Captain Marvel #1 in January alongside the release of the new movie, if anyone were to complain about, say, this cover for Captain Marvel #1

At least if they hadn't all sold out from his store.

If you wanted the shorter hair… well, other covers from other artists are also available.
