New Comic Store Opens in England – Wow Comix Bury

Wow Comix in the north of England, with two stores in Greater Manchester, one in Sale and another in Stockport. Not so much a chain as a link.

Well, as of this month, it's definitely a chain, opening a new store in the neighbouring town of Bury, a total of three stores.

Diamond Comic Distributors has been running special programmes to encourage comic book stores to expand with new outlets, creating chains, as it is seen as a more efficient way of creating new comic book stores than starting from scratch, with very generous start-up packages available from publishers and distributor alike. And Wow Comix is the latest to take them up on it.

The new store is located 3 The Rock, Bury, BL9 0JP, next to the big Church, and right in the middle of town. It used to be a ScootaMart, specialising in selling mobility scooters, adjustable beds and stairlifts. So if comics are being sold to an older clientele these days, that's perfect placement.

Here's how opening day looked… with some young kids too.
