Deadpool Next For A Creative Refresh?

Skottie Young is a real favourite internally at Marvel Comics. Naturally, his cartoon skills opened up a whole new market for the publisher, as well as merchandising and monetising his every variant cover and restylings of characters like Rocket Raccoon and Groot. He also became associated with the Deadpool character, so to get him to write the ongoing series must have seen like an easy sell.

However, I understand that Marvel regard sales on his Deadpool series as not meeting expectations considering the character's presence elsewhere in the media landscape.

Young had planned 12 to 16 issues and April will see #11 published with Steve Hepburn.

But expect something different for a Deadpool relaunch sooner rather than later, as well as one or two rather unique Deadpool mini series later this year.

And for the much loved Skottie Young working on something else. And his Deadpool series suddenly rediscovered, reappreciated and republished when the movie is made of his Middlewest of I Hate Fairyland comics for Image.
