A Comic Show –

Aaron Haaland writes,

Hey Fandom! I'm back with some New Comics Now, but I'm so pumped for Star Wars! Thursday can't get here fast enough! And yes, the Star Wars and Vader Annuals by Gillen were quite good. In fact, I think the quality of the Marvel Star Wars book overall has really increased my excitement for the new movie. Marvel also had a few great first issues this week. Starbrand and Nighthawk is a book about college buddies, but it's by Greg Weisman of Young Justice and Star Wars Rebels fame! Are you ready for Marvel's college age heroes all at the same school with the Young Justice guy writing it? I am. Weirdworld by Sam Humphries, was actually more fun than Jason Aaron's. I'm not saying Aaron's run wasn't good, but there's something about a young protagonist in a weird world that gets me in those Neverending Story feels. Squadron Supreme by Robinson and Kirk is bad freaking ass. It's like the Authority in the Marvel universe doing some hardcore game changing stuff. I don't spoil what happens, but it is crazy and really sets the tone for this title. And Deadpool Tres Punto Uno features Masacre. El Deadpool Mexicano is almost entirely in Spanish, so if you can't read it ask a friend to read it to you.

Over at DC there's finally another Justice League Darkseid War proper book. Harley Quinn #23 has bagged Bruce Timm Variant covers. Joker and Bats team up in Europa. Max Landis has the power to make Superman drink beer!

Lucifer #1 takes place in the old shared Vertigo universe! Seriously, there's and Editor's Note to Hellblazer #66! Super Zero #1 is a new Aftershock book by Harley Quinn's Conner and Palmiotti, and has charm to spare. It's about a young woman with a wild imagination who tries to contrive a secret origin. Klaus #2 is more of Morrison's brawler Santa, he trips balls and give kids toys from his sack. I also enjoyed plenty of Image books like The Goddamned, Tokyo Ghost, and Huck.

AND Grampa Simpson's Unbelievable Adventures #1 (one shot) is billed "Decide Your Own Destiny". It's like one of those old school choose your own adventure, after every page are so you get to pick what Grampa does next. He either punches a martian or eats a sandwich and passes out. It's awesome!
