Batman's Plans For Three Of His Robins, From Today's Comics
Batman And Robin. What a team. Sometimes.
In today's Batman '1 by Tom King and David Finch, we have a Batman going solo.
No League. And only using his current not-a-Robin Duke Thomas as an "Oracle" figure.
Well, the whole situation does look a little dicey.
But in Justice League #51 we see a different relationship with a previous Robin, Dick Grayson, in an earlier meet of the Justice League from a few years ago.
As finally we get an inkling of the infleuncee of the Wildstorm universe in current DC continuity. And the realisation that the Justice League, basically broke the universe.
Yes, and you thought this was just a fill-in issue, marking out time between Geoff Johns' early departure from this title and its planned cancellation date? Not a bit of it! That's for next month!
Because for all that, we discover Batman's plans for this Robin, his first, Dick Grayson.
No pressure. Also. the bit where it says it will be continued in Titans Rebirth? It isn't. Just managing expectations there.
But in Dark Knight: The Last Crusade, Batman has a very different take on that Robin, Jason Todd.
After seeing his bloodthirsty ways…
…and similarities to another figure in his life…
…as well as a lack of respect. And not seeing him ab;e to lead anything, least of all be Batman.
Even with all the positive attributes… …as a prequel to Dark KnighT Returns – and exhibiting far more of the visual and verbal tics that made that volume work so well, and rejecting what DKII and Master Race tried to do it to…
…we know where this is heading for Robin…
Batman #1, Dark Knight: The Last Crusade and Justice League #51 are all published today from DC Comics.
