Don't Call Him Xavier… (Astonishing X-Men #7 SPOILERS)
So Professor Charles Xavier is back! As revealed in last month's Astonishing X-Men #6, he has returned from the death at the hands of his first student, Scott Summers, as it turns out he was hanging around on the astral plane, trapped by the Shadow King. Well, that all got sorted out, and soon he was swapping bodies with Fantomex, whose mind is still there. And now Charles Xavier has a brand new bod! There's even a little hair growth there as well. Though he's not that keen on his deadname right now…
Reborn? Rebirthed! And choosing X as an identity. No educated titles to accompany it either. So what about Fantomex?
"Ask him yourself!" Okay, Charlie, we will. Turns out he's gone all retired-Sherlock Holmes on us. All he needs now are the bees.
Okay, still a bit dodgy, so what does X do with his powers now that he can walk and talk around the place? Or astrally project if he's feeling a bit lazy?
Why, he wipes the mind of some of the people trying to kill him and the X-Men, albeit from noble causes. And that's what makes me go "ooohh…"
Because that's old Charles Xavier. The Xavier would would defeat every villain by wiping their mind, if he was able to. Again.
And again.
And again.
No wonder Magneto always donned that helmet. Eventually Xavier stopped doing this as a) it was boring and b) you shouldn't meddle with someone's mind like that. Until now, of course. So has Professor Xavier been rejuvenated to the younger man from the early days of X-Men?
Better watch out Jean Grey, now that you've been resurrected…
