9 Pages Of Ed Brubaker and Sean Philips' New Graphic Novel, My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies

We broke the story of the existence of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips' new original graphic novel My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies back in May by the arduous task of searching on Amazon. And on Monday, retailers will be placing their orders.

Teenage Ellie has always had romantic ideas about drug addicts, those tragic artistic souls drawn to needles and pills have been an obsession since the death of her junkie mother ten years ago. But when Ellie lands in an upscale rehab clinic where nothing is what it appears to be… she'll find another more dangerous romance, and find out how easily drugs and murder go hand-in-hand.

MY HEROES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN JUNKIES is a seductive coming-of-age story, a pop and drug culture-fueled tale of a young girl seeking darkness… and what she finds there. A gorgeous must-have hardback from the award-winning team of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips.

We ran a preview here. But since then, Sean Phillips has revisited the artwork and in this longer extended preview, has a greater indication of the tone of the comic. Got to say, I was totally drawn in. A narrator working against what's seen on the page, even when they are one of the protagonists, is always a favourite of mine…
