Goof! Runs Around the British Comics Industry
Marc Jackson writes,
This weekend sees the launch of issue 1 of Goof! the brand-new, all-ages comic for everyone, launched as 'Issue zero' back in June at MACC-POW! the day of comic-art I organise in my hometown of Macclesfield, in Cheshire. As well as getting the chance to meet many of the cartoonists who created new comics especially for this project, visitors on the day could sign-up and read the comic right then and there on their mobile devices, a first for a project of this nature.
Goof! features new work from myself, Lew Stringer, Tor Freeman, Ken Niimura, Hilary Barta, Emmeline Pidgen, Jim Boswell, Genie Espinosa, Rick Eades, Jessica on Paper and Lorenzo Montatore plus many more. Released monthly, Goof! promises to deliver the fun in funnies, whilst showing the diversity of the medium of comics. So comics about witches and wizards, sit alongside stick-wielding pigs and recipe comics. Each one truly celebrating comics in their own unique way.
Issue one also introduces 'Space Stupids' by Star Wars adventures artist Nick Brokenshire, one of our guests at MACC-POW! and sold him on the merits of the comic. He was incredibly enthusiastic and immediately wanted in. His strip captures the fun side of 80's 2000AD strips like Robo-Hunter.
So, if this sounds great to you, then head to www.goofcomic.co.uk to subscribe right now, it's just £12 for a year's subscription, that's just £1 a month for a 30 comic packed with amazing content and content that I'm incredibly proud to be bringing to the comics market.
I hope everyone really gets behind this, everyone involved has worked incredibly hard so far and there's lots more to come!
