How Orchis Spoils The Hellfire Gala – Free Comic Book Day #XSpoilers
The X-Men/Avengers Free Comic Book Day comic will introduce a mysterious invader of the New York treehouse embassy ahead of the Hellfire Gala.
Mykines is a very real island off the westernmost edge of the Faroe Islands, with a population of ten people at the last count, and part of the Kingdom of Denmark. In the Marvel Universe, however, it is owned by Namor, after he won ownership of the island gambling with some Danes. It was then transferred to Emma Frost as a protectorate of the fictitious mutant nation island of Krakoa, and the location for the first Hellfire Gala of the Krakoan Era. And this summer, it is back in service for the new Hellfire Gala. The first one saw the announcement of the terraforming of Mars as the mutant planet of Arakko, the second saw the announcement that mutants were practically immortal now and could be resurrected – though that technology has now been shared with the most deserving of humans, and Captain America. And for the third? Well, it looks as if Orchis are ahead of the game.
The X-Men/Avengers Free Comic Book Day comic for Saturday, the 6th of May, will introduce a mysterious invader of the New York Krakoan treehouse embassy. Might this lead to a certain prophesied scene from Timeless #1 in January?
Destiny looks particularly fabulous alongside Mystique, now that they both have a lot more future to play with. But what is a Hellfire Gala without Emma Frost?
Because it appears that our intruder has one trophy in mind. The Krakoan-built Captain Krakoa suit, used to preserve the secret of Cyclops's resurrection when that was still an issue.
Because while a suit can disguise that Scott Summers is dead, it can also disguise when that suit is worn by someone else. And the Senate committee who are looking into the mutant threat and are divided about it? Well here's one easy way to get rid of any of the doubters…
We remember, Captain Orchis. From House Of X #1 by Jonathan Hickman and Pepe Larraz…
While Captain America may not be going to the Hellfire Gala…
… it looks like Orchis is gunning for him as well. He was resurrected by the mutants after all.
Maybe that's what will bring the Uncanny Avengers, an Avengers team with mutants on it, together again?
