How Writing Birds Of Prey Changed The Way Duane Swierczynski Writes Novels.In an interview with the Pittsburg Trubune, Duane Swierczynski, talks about his new novel, Hell And Gone. During which he confesses as to how writing the likes of the current Birds Of Prey comic has changed the way he approached his prose work.

"It's funny, but before writing comics, I was more of the Elmore Leonard school of writing, very spare on description," he says "I focused more on dialogue and how characters interact with each other, more than setting the scene and thinking about camera angles and such things. But after writing comics, I really thought more about painting word pictures. Not going overboard — I still keep it spare — but I do think readers like to have all their senses engaged. A good writer friend of mine said you should always write with the five senses in mind. You shouldn't just see and hear things, but you should be able to touch it and smell it and feel it."

I do like a comic with a strong smell to it…
