Image Comics Subscription Service Officially From DCBS Now
DCBS is the online discount comic subscription service that was banned from giving its discount rates in the regular ads that run in DC Comics titles – until senior staff were away for a week and it sneaked through.
Ahead of this Wednesday's Image Expo in Seattle, they've now been made the fulfillment company for Image Comics' subscription service, offering 30% discounts and free shipping within the USA to new subscribers..
As well as selling print comics they will also sell Image Comics merchandise – T-shirts, posters, Lying Cat plush toys and the like, directly to the consumer.
"DCBS has long been one of our most supportive accounts and we're so excited to be able to partner with them and expand the reach of Image Direct," said Corey Murphy, Director of Sales at Image Comics. "Retailers are the backbone to this industry, but unfortunately many of our fans do not live in areas close by a local comic shop. We hope through DCBS and Image Direct we can fix that and widen the audience for creator-owned comics and merchandise."
They are not the only publisher to use a retail account for such a purpose, Marvel use Midtown Comics of New York to deal with their subscription service.
