Molly Crabapple Arrested During Occupy Wall Street Anniversary Protest
Over a hundred people were arrested today as Occupy Wall Street held a series of peaceful protests around Manhattan's financial district in a one year anniversary of the movement.
They included the cartoonist and comic creator Molly Crabapple.
Arrested. Twittering from police van
Just grabbed off sidewalk, along with everones else here
Arresting officer Plouffe. Badge number 25100 #s17
Everyone in van just yanked off sidewalk. Police ordered to just start grabbing
Can't wait to draw this
While we were being put into van a suit grinned and told the cops "nice work"
Everyone in this police van is wicked smart and funny except for the driver
That was Molly's last tweet, six hours ago.
Occupy is a movement aimed at protesting, in variation, the work of the banks that led to the ongoing financial crisis, increasing globalisation, reductions of civil liberties, and a variety of other causes thrown into the pot. With examples across the globe, it was the most visible public protest for many months, and inspired a number of comic book treatments from Occupy Comics to Archie.
