Next Week's Black Panther vs. Deadpool #2 Takes on the Poaching Economy
Next week sees the release of the second issue of Black Panther vs. Deadpool, the crossover mini-series that finally answers the question: what if Marvel got people to shell out money for an ultimately inconsequential mini-series featuring two characters with massive pop culture relevance at the moment. And sure, you might expect such a cash-grab mini-series to be relatively low stakes, but the life of Willie Lumpkin is on the line here, people. This is serious business!
And in next week's Black Panther vs. Deadpool #2, the book goes beyond matters of life and death to explore political topics, such as the ethics of trophy hunting, a favored sport of rich douchebags. Deadpool runs into a few of these after being teleported to the desert by the Panther in the series' first issue, and before he makes quick work of the poachers, he first explores the socio-political ramifications of the trade on the local economy.
Enough of that, though. It's not long before Deadpool takes a trophy of his own, slicing off the hunter's arm.
Black Panther vs. Deadpool #2 hits stores on Wednesday.
