Preview: Uncanny X-Men #1 by Kieron Gillen and Carlos Pacheco
Yeah, Kieron, I don't think there's going to be a time you're not buying drinks in the pub after this comic ships in November. Sorry about that, but you know the rules. You write Uncanny X-Men #1, it is always your round.
Apparently Cyclops is assembing a new X-Men group, the X-Tinction Team. That's up there with Brotherhood Of Evil Mutants, isn't it?
"Mr Cyclops, sir, our kitten is stuck in the tree."
"No worries, let me summon the X-Tinction Team!"
"Um, actually I think he likes it in the tree now, isn't that Mr Sinister over there?"
And from the Kieron Gillen interview on Marvel.com, something of note…
"The super-team as nuclear deterrent".
"That's what the reason for the Extinction Team: save the world, but—by their very existence—they're a threat… Yes, they're saving this city. But they could just as easily be destroying it, if you gave them motivation to do so. And the team, with its bunch of ex-villains, are designed to be credible and convincingly intimidating in that role, both in terms of power and personality. People [are] glad the team has turned up [and] seem glad that they're on their side, but know if they ever did anything to make them not on the same side, there would be trouble."
