Birmingham's Nostalgia & Comics Smashed Into As UK Riots
There have been riots in London the last few nights, with copycat situations kicking off in Bristol, Liverpoool, Birmingham and Nottingham, with looting and fires common.
In Birmingham, looters cleared out an entire computer/TV store, Richer Sounds, right next to Nostalgia & Comics. The first night it was left alone, the second night their front window was smashed in.
Kenny Pelmann of Nostalgia & Comics told Twitter "Nostalgia and Comics had people have a go at it last night – blood on the door – main window battered. Gave up – probably back tonight… New Main Window for N&C will likely be £2K – do I replace it now – or wait as it will get done other nights? Everyone at N&C is fine – all well gone by time it kicked off. We really appreciate everyone's concern though. Hope all other retailers OK."
It's ironic considering the contents of the comic shop are probably more valuable than those in Richer Sounds. Although by now I'm sure Kenny and co have removed any of their rarer silver and golden age titles…
