Comics Conspiracy's Numbers up for 2017, but Down for Marvel

Ryan Higgins is the owner of comic book store Comics Conspiracy in Sunnyvale, California. While there has been a lot of doom and gloom in the comic book market, his annual report indicates that, for his store at least, he's been turning things around. This is just one comic book store; but it is a good comic book store.

YTY, we're up 3.4% 2017 vs 2016. Given the state of the industry and the world, I'll take that as a huge win.

75% of our sales come from new comic books and graphic novels. Marvel and DC make up about 70% of that. DC sales are sitting at 29% over Marvel for the year.

Remember, 2015 was the first year ever Marvel outsold DC for us.

– Been restocking graphic novels weekly, expanded out our all-ages section. Lots more standalone / Volume 1. Started using a book distributor, as well. Lots of stuf that Diamond doesn't stock/restock.
