GLAAD Awards Nominate Angela, Harley Quinn, Lumberjanes, Midnghter And The Wicked + The Divine Nominated

thewickedthedivine_1_BThe GLAAD Media Awards "recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives."

They have often awarded and rewarded comic books for this. However, they have been accused of leaning towards the most mainstream popular rather than what critics may see as the best examples.

This year's list is a lot more, well, diverse.

Angela: Queen of Hel by Marguerite Bennett, Kim Jacinto, Israel Silva, Stephanie Hans from Marvel Comics

Harley Quinn, by Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti, Chad Hardin, John Timms, Jed Dougherty from DC Comics

Lumberjanes, by Noelle Stevenson, Shannon Watters, Kat Leyh, Carolyn Nowak, Brooke Allen from BOOM! Studios

The Wicked + The Divine by Kieron Gillen, Jamie McKelvie, Kate Brown, Tula Lotay from Image Comics.

Alison Bechdel, author of Fun Home is also recognised for her appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, nominated for Outstanding Talk Show Episode.

While Arrow was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series.
