Review: Marvel Zombies: The Return #4 by Seth Grahame Smith and Richard Elson

It's a great idea. Get the man who mashed up Pride And Prejudice And Zombies to write a comic that mashes up the Marvel universe with zombies, across various realities and worlds. And in this issue of Marvel Zombies: The Return… it's basically a What If…? World War Hulk happened while the world was being infected by Marvel Zombies. So we see the Hulk, just as in World War Hulk, returning with his mob, attacking the moon first, to deal with the Inhumans. And finding inhuman zombies instead. This is proper official stamp fanfic, given an attractive gloss by 2000AD's Richard Elson, in his first work for Marvel – actually, with the pound crashing against the dollar of late, expect a lot more 2000AD names to return to Marvel and DC in the months ahead. But anyway.

I do have a hard time justifying the $3.99 price for a standard sized comic with a glorified fight scene taking existing Marvel comics and twisting them into zombieness. This really should have been a $2.99 book. But as ever, your zombie mileage may vary.

Marvel Zombies: The Return #4 is published by Marvel comics this week.
