Wednesday Runaround – iPad Apps On Video

Wednesday Runaround – iPad Apps On VideoRossWatch: Jonathan Ross and Tommy Lee Edwards are doing a signing at Forbidden Planet London tonight for Turf #1 with an exclusive Forbidden Planet cover. I'll pop by when I get some childcare cover later today…

LibraryWatch: Matt Phelan, creator of The Storm in the Barn, the first graphic novel to win the Scott O'Dell Award for Historical Fiction, will be presenting "How to Make a Graphic Novel" at the Paoli Library in Tredyffrin, PA tomorrow at 7pm.

iPadWatch: PCMag looks at how publishers are coping digitally.

It's no coincidence that the most popular comics properties on the Internet are almost all newspaper-style strips, rather than online graphic novels. I really can't sum up the matter any better than McCloud did during a recent conversation we had on the subject of the iPad. "Comic strips made an easy leap onto the Web," the writer explained. "They got a little bigger, so they're easier to read. God created Web comic strips in a day and took the other six off. There was no design challenge. It fit."

And here's a video comparison of the iVerse and Comixology iPad Apps.

BatWatch: Comics Alliance pick up on the MoCCA mention that Frank Miller is no longer working on Holy Terror Batman. Although this may be a wrinkle on previous story that Miller was doing the book – but taking Batman out of it altogether.

As I worked on it, it became something that was no longer Batman. It's somewhere past that, and I decided it's going to be part of a new series that I'm starting.

FilmWatch: Joss Whedon looks like he will indeed be directing The Avengers for Marvel Studios. You know, is DC Entertainment regretting what happened with Joss Whedon and the Wonder Woman movie yet?

BaggeWatch: Wired interviews Peter Bagge and previews his new Vertigo book Other Lives, out today.

"Digital vs. paper? That's a totally bogus debate," Bagge told Wired.com in an e-mail interview. "There will always be both. Whichever one you want, you got it!"
