REmake/REmodel: Bakterev
Si Spurrier's Instructions:
Bakterev is a nutty scientist created by Pavel Perov for his 1925 pulp novel Bratstvo Viia. I quote the ever-magnificent Jess Nevins:
Bakterev is "a collaborator of the Jewish conspirators who have brought about the Bolshevik Revolution" in Russia. He is a leader of the Brotherhood of the Vii and has for years been summoning "dead souls" and implanting them into ectoplasm extracted from living humans. The resulting beings are called "mortomats" and are controlled by the Brotherhood's machines.
There's more – like how an Irish-American Reporter, a white-cavalry officer and a Cossack servant ultimately bring down the evil Brotherhood in the Baltic Forests after defeating a legion of Mortomat Roman Soldiers – but I think the angle we want here is purer than that: it's Soviet Political Skulduggery at the hands of Ectoplasmic Soul-Monsters animated by an Insane Bolshevik Scientist. Only on R/R, baby.
Modernise or futurize. Hollywood just decided to remake Bratstvo Viia for today's feckless audience, and you're part of the concept team.
