Rezq: Deep Space Recovery and Courier Logistic, The Non-Linear Hypertext We All Deserve For Christmas
Rezq: Deep Space Recovery and Courier Logistic is a gradually expanding weird comic/illustrated hypertext story from comic book creator Mongreldog. It's comics, pretty much, but jt usus the digital medium to go elsewhere. It's putatively about surviving life and work in the psychotic hypercapitalist spacefaring future with a non-linear narrative that builds from random snapshots of the experiences of Thom, an employee of REZQ, a profit-hungry company that responds to distress signals from stricken space travellers. Working alone and untrained aboard the gigantic repurposed cargo ship "Angel Fish", Thom must use a variety of dangerous and ill-suited tools and technologies to rescue people from some of the most dangerous situations the galaxy has to offer — provided they're up to date on their subscription fee.Dealing with work, capital, mental illness, junk food, and drugs, the comic takes place in a universe where gravity is rationed, corporations issue their own currency, and patent trolling on basic crops has caused shortages of staple foods.
It can be read in any order by visiting rezq.space. That in itself should be intriguing. So go on, get lost. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.
