Right-Wing Political Party in Italy Takes on Captain America Imagery

Matteo Salvini is an Italian politician currently serving as Deputy Prime Minister of Italy and Minister of the Interior for a year now. He has also been Federal Secretary of the Lega Nord party since December 2013. As a Eurosceptic, anti-immigration populist figurehead in European politics, a member of the neo-nationalist movement, a right-wing ideology which emphasizes deglobalization, nativist and protectionism, he has come in for a lot of criticism for promiting far-right views. Not that his supporters will hear any of it, as he is nicknamed Il Capitano, or The Captain, by his supporters.

So much so that his party's official social media put out this latest poster lionising the man.
