Sara Frazetta Writes New Vampirella Series For Dynamite, Dead Flowers

Frank Frazeta's granddaughter Sara Frazetta is co-writing a new Vampirella comic, series published by Dynamite. Vampirella: Dead Flowers.

In 1969, Frank Frazetta painted the first Vampirella Magazine #1 cover, co-creating the character in the process. Now 54 years later, his granddaughter Sara Frazetta is co-writing a new Vampirella comic, published by Dynamite Entertainment. Vampirella: Dead Flowers with co-writer and "occult detective" Bob Freeman and drawn by Alberto Locatelli. With covers by Lucio Parrillo, Collette Turner, Ergün Gündüz, Alberto Locatelli. cosplayer Rachel Hollon, Frank Frazetta's original painting, as well as covers created by Sara Frazatta herself. She has also written her grandfather Frank Frazetta into the comic, seen painting Vampirella's portrait.

As a co-founder of the Frazetta Girls, Sara has carried on her grandfather's legacy with licensing, merchandising, education, and taking on the artistic mantle herself. "It's such an honor for me to carry on the Frazetta legacy with Vampirella," said Sara Frazetta. "Now, being able to pick up that torch myself, in a small way of course, is entirely surreal. I've loved Vampirella since I was a little girl."

One of Vampirella's age-old nemeses finally gives up the ghost, and that leads her to his rural Gothic estate of Rookhaven to hear out the last will and testament. Along the way, readers will get to meet the manor's eclectic staff, from a mysterious groundskeeper and his even more cryptic young daughter, the sinister and enigmatic Mr. Frey, and more.

This thrilling tale is steeped in Gothic horror and taps into timeless tropes. Fans can expect a tone and style similar to the classic Warren magazine era, when artist Jose Gonzalez made his mark and Frank Frazetta could often be found on the covers. The spooky script and Locatelli's artistic stylings capture the sinister mansion, mist-enshrouded graveyard, witches, ghosts, werewolves, and more sights that fans will love.
