Support The Cinematic Graphic Novel, Treta-Yuga
Benton Rooks writes,
Do Qigong, glitch magic, lore hunting, and occult prophecy have anything to do with one another? Of course not, which is why it they are all interconnected subjects in the Realm of Vekt and the extended lore of the Yugaverse, my very own fictional history.
The cinematic graphic novel Treta-Yuga (now live on Kickstarter) is a sci-fantasy spinoff to my first breakout indie comic Kickstarter success Kali-Yuga. It concerns Xven and Arkana, the last lore hunters, as they search for the secrets to glitch magic and the Silver Scroll. They must retrieve the long lost Qigong champion Master Zee, as the scroll can only be obtained by the mastery of the Shadow Tiger stance, and that's just the beginning of this action packed romp.
Treta comes from my love of science fiction/fantasy hybrids, something that I feel was in some ways playfully mastered by Roger Zelazny, Jack Nance, Gene Wolfe, and a host of other authors. It is dark (and sometimes Mortal Kombat level gory) and I'll be damned if it won't utterly entertain the pants off of you.
The illustration style takes on a pseudo-film format—widescreen grain and all—to give the graphic novel a "film on paper" feel. This is not because I don't like 2D art, but because I thought it might be fun and challenging to do something that looked a little closer to the previous Kickstarter success The Brothers Harrow, albeit with my own Eastern philosophical leanings.
We're 74 backers in and very close to the funding goal, but if Bleeding Cool members act today, I'd be happy to offer them the $10 reward tier for the $5, so that you can read the first issue of Kali-Yuga instantly when you purchase Treta. Please post in the BC forums so that you can reap the rewards of this these beautiful comics!
