Today sees the publication of Secret Empire #5 by Nick Spencer, Andrea Sorrentino, Rod Reis. Marvel's blurb makes bold promises: "THE SECRET EMPIRE WILL AMAZE YOU!", and also "They thought they were safe! They thought they could handle anything that was thrown against them! But the united heroes of the Marvel Universe never reckoned on the dread power that Steve Rogers would unleash!"

So who betrays who in Secret Empire #5? Well we start with Viper betraying Captain America for her own betterment.

Thor betraying humanity for Jane Foster…

And like Deadpool and the Punisher, it's all about the love for a certain Steve Rogers. #Deadrogers #Punisherica #Thundershielf. With the Beast betraying humanity for mutantkind…

While the one who betrays the rebel alliance has shared more than spit with the current director of SHIELD and supreme leader of HYDRA…

And we also get to enjoy some returns, ~~Tony Stark's A.Iron Man meets Tony Stark.~~

Red Skull joins this land of the dead with Steve Rogers and probably-Rick Jones and James Rhodes, doing his best Negan impersonation.

And it looks like Hydra technology has been doing a revival of their very own, with Hydra science reviving one who Captain America was principal in putting under the ground…

The next issue, Secret Empire #6, blurbs breathlessly, "The unworthy, the untrusted, the unstable – this is their day! BEWARE THE SECRET EMPIRE!" Hitting hard on July 19 by Nick Spencer, Leinil Francis Yu, and Mark Brooks.
