The Look Of London For Free Comic Book Day 2013
We began at Forbidden Planet. They started with a 200 strong queue but thankfully that had dispersed after some judicious handing out of free comics by cosplaying staff.
At Orbital Comics, there was a queue, but even more cosplayers to keep the troops entertained.
The fun didn't stop there, when you could be The Mighty Thor thanks to a simple box to stand on.
For some of the kids who came with me today, it as the first time they'd ever been inside a comic shop before. Quite an adventure!
Though I had to explain that not every comic store has a stand selling special Adventure Time cupcakes, thanks to Hoxton comic store Eggs Milk Butter setting up shop.
Gosh Comics really pushed the boat out, organising comic shop workshops for kids with world class cartoonists…
As well as having comic creators decorate their windows again. Look everyone, that's Mark Buckingham drawing Batman.
And then it was a quick trip to the Mall Galleries to see the comics small press market in fine form,
Comics were picked up for free, bought, read outside in the glorious sunshine, then inside in the hideous hail, and then swapped back and forth on the journey home. A good Free Comic Book Day all round.
So… how did your Free Comic Book Day go?
