This Week, Savage Dragon is Punching Nazis, As Promised
Erik Larsen has been promising that the Nazi-punching issue of Savage Dragon has been coming for months.
Though Malcolm Dragon grew a beard in the interim. And lost swastikas on the cover. Diamond Comic Distributors isn't one for distributing comics with swastikas on the cover, due to German laws.
But the insides make up for the cover. As in, they deliver. I mean, they also have several interdimensional women acquaintances of the Savage Dragon clam, trapped in a barbaric dimension where they are captured, explicitly naked, and imprisoned in a rape camp.
But because this is the Savage Dragon comic and creator Erik Larsen likes at least two tones to each issue, it does also have Malcolm Dragon punching Nazis.
Lots and lots of Nazis.
Reiterating how much it is okay to punch Nazis. And supporting anyone who punches Nazis. Of course, these aren't the words of Erik Larsen, but Malcolm Dragon. So what does Erik himself think? He spoke to Comic Book's Russ Burlingame.
"Ripped from the headlines" type stories can be a mixed bag though as once things cycle out of the news, things seem to fade. I wish I could have tackled this right after Charlottesville when the wounds were still fresh.
Out this week…
