Zoe Thorogood has made a real impact on the comic book scene since she started creating comics for it in recent years. It's Lonely At The Centre Of The Earth in 2022 published by Image Comics was a real habit for the creator and publisher and, along with her work on The Rain at IDW, saw her nominated for six Eisner Awards and winning the Russ Manning Newcomer Award. She is working on a sequel, as well as work for Marvel and DC writing for Titan Comics and writing and drawing the new Hack/Slash comic.
A couple of days ago, Australian comic book reader Michael Anthony posted "It's hard to say goodbye. I'm selling @zoethorogood 's Eisner nominated original cover art for 'It's Lonely'. I'd prefer to sell this privately before going to auction next month. If you're interested, DM me for more details."
Well that didn't take long, He posted again, "It has sold and will be making its way back home to the UK. Thank you all for the enquiries."
I asked as to how it went and he told me, with the permission of the buyer, that it was sold for £5500 or around $7000 US. I understand that Michael Anthony has also chosen to give Zoe Thorogood a portion of that price. He told me, "I'm an advocate for artists getting compensated when their work is resold for any sort of profit. Especially as it was her boost on her socials that got me in touch with the eventual buyer."
I also think that the buyer may have gotten a bit of a bargain there.
