Like Donald Trump, Mark Hamill Says He Turned Down Time's Person Of The Year Offer

Americans were shocked to learn this weekend that President Donald Trump will apparently not be Person of the Year for the second time running at Time Magazine. According to Trump, the magazine was considering probably definitely bestowing the honor on him for the second consecutive year, but only if Trump was willing to give them an interview and a photoshoot. Unfortunately, the president had to decline, as it would have taken out too much time from his schedule of tweeting at LaVar Ball, ignoring Eminem, taking money from Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter, and egging on a nuclear war with North Korea.

Time Magazine, for its part, denies that they tried to make a deal with Trump.

Then again, Trump is so good at making deals — he wrote a book about it, after all — Time was probably just too embarrassed at how much better Trump is at dealmaking than them to admit the truth. Adding credence to this theory is the fact that Time reportedly made almost the exact same offer to Star Wars: The Last Jedi star Mark Hamill.

According to Hamill, Time also wanted to make him Person of the Year, but first they wanted him to reveal some Last Jedi spoilers. Hamill refused, not because he didn't want to give away the spoilers, but as an act of solidarity with the Trumpster, so it looks like Time is going to need to find a third choice. Not that we're angling for the award or anything, but just so you know, Time, we'd be perfectly happy to hook you up with the final pages of popular comics to run a day before they hit store in the U.S. if you give the award to us.
