James Gunn Says Marvel Studios Will Not Be At The San Diego Comic-Con
We start the day off with interesting news. According to Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, Marvel Studios is not planning on going to the San Diego Comic Con / Comi-Con International. In a Q&A on Facebook, Gunn was asked by Stephania Besco if he would be attending the convention this year. Gunn replied: "I'm not sure. Marvel isn't going so I'm not sure I will either."
When some folks commented on twitter that Gunn may not be telling the truth, the director tweeted back:
So why would Marvel Studios skip the convention? They could use it to push Ant-Man that would be coming out the following week. They could even do a screening of it to start the hype. Plus they could tease the upcoming Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange. Why skip the show?
Perhaps its because of how well the announcement at the El Capitan theater went. They announced nine films and were the top of the entertainment news cycle for a few days. Where at San Diego you are fighting for coverage along with Warner Bros, Legendary, Sony, etc.
I'm sure Warner Bros / DC Entertainment is happy to hear this news.
