We ran a couple of Before Watchmen August issue covers last week But we didn't run this one for Ozymandias #2, with Jae Lee showing Ozymandias in a compromising position DC gave that one to Out Magazine Or course they did.In the original Watchmen series, the covers formed the very first panel of the comic,[...]

There now follows some randomish, vaguely connected thoughts about Before Watchmen.
"Did Alan Moore get screwed on his contract? Of course Lots of people get screwed, but we still have Spider-Man and lots of other heroes." – Joe Michael Straczynski. Before Watchmen author.
""Kirby got a shitty contract too, so get over it" isn't a great tag[...]
An utterly fascinating account of some DC editorial history caps off the week: "Shortly after the completion of the Watchmen series by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, DC's main editors went on retreat The retreatees included Karen Berger, Mike Gold, Denny O'Neil, Mike Carlin, and Andy Helfer The brain trust returned with three "sequels" to[...]
Such as an earlier stab by DC Comics at something like Before Watchmen.

BuzzFeed, after their trip around the DC Offices, were allowed to take some shots of the Before Watchmen comic books, including these Rorschach pages by Lee Bermejo with their seventies Manhattan exotica, the Silk Spectre page by Amanda Conner that follows it with the falling snow globe and nine panel grid right out of Watchmen,[...]
For everything that's been done for Watchmen from the books to the movie, money has gone his way The right amount that he deserves based on the contract So we have honored that part of the agreement It is something that can definitely be debated but to say that there is clearly one side that[...]
And for some, that is the very definition of a dream job.
Oh and there are also looks at new Before Watchmen pages…
Some people insist that Dan DiDio must sit upon a throne rimmed with the skulls of his enemies Instead, his office looks more like my teenage bedroom But larger.
It's part of a puff[...]

Retailers got a look at some Before Watchmen pages in black-and-white at the Diamond Chicago Summit As I'd previously heard, and now have confirmed, only Amanda Conner is using the 9 panel grid format that so defined the original Watchmen comic for Silk Spectre, and that everyone else is breaking format Though some return to[...]

Thanks to one hard working YouTuber, we now have the Alan Moore interview with BBC's HARDTalk online for everyone to see. The BBC generally don't take
Can anyone seriously argue the election process hasn't changed markedly because of the availability of youtube, instant video via smartphones and the like?
Alan Moore – in, of course, WATCHMEN – made it crystal clear that the new engines created by Doctor Manhattan had destroyed the old motor vehicle industry That's one of the few 'wider[...]
As well as talking about the ins and out of their new Watchmen books, MTV Geek asked Len Wein and Joe Michael Straczynski about the possibility of more Watchmen to follow them.
LW: Absolutely, like any great characters, there's always more to tell.
JMS: I think what this project has shown, more than anything else, is that[...]
Alan Moore has been talking to Kurt Amacker about Before Watchmen, Watchmen, DC Comics and League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen Now, Alan has said a lot of this before, sometimes to me, but not all in the same place, in such a concise fashion and so directed Here are a few snippets, to encourage you to[...]
Here's a sketch of Silk Spectre by Amanda Conner, the character she'll be drawing in the upcoming Before Watchmen books.

It could happen...
Alan Moore wrote Watchmen with Dave Gibbons And that was that.
Or was it? Because, as well as making suggestions about writing a Minutemen prequel or a Tales Of The Black Freighter spinoff with Joe Orlando, he also helped out with the Watchmen DC Heroes Role Playing games from Mayfair, in both Who Watches The Watchmen,[...]
So, yes, Watchmen 2.
Darwyn Cooke – "The nature of the undertaking is going to polarize a lot of the readership…I think a lot of people will be excited about this and there are a lot of people that will be dead against it… I don't feel any more trepidation than Alan did by refitting the[...]
Then this landed on me.
A full confirmation of the Watchmen prequel project from DC Comics we have previously referred to as Watchmen 2, Before Watchmen, with writing details, courtesy of the Wausau Daily Herald which I think may have slightly broken an embargo.
And it's not the four prequel comics we'd previously reported, but seven[...]
And they come in a variety of colours, and designs, including a Watchmen yellow-with-blood-splatter variety, that, presumably, will be on the new Watchmen prequel comic books.
Bleeding Cool also mentioned how the touchscreen, interactive and animated aspect of the new logo would be a major aspect of it, and you can see that in action below,[...]
Whether it has something to do with Watchmen 2, our short hand term for the four Watchmen mini-sequel prequels we've heard about, I don't know But I can find no other reference to Amanda drawing and colouring this piece and Amanda has been rumoured to be working on the prequels, and a Silk Spectre book[...]

On Christmas Day Bleeding Cool posted art from the upcoming Watchmen prequels from DC Comics – and we received a cease and desist note from DC Comics on the same day Possibly a first I blame Bob Wayne.

Whoever is involved, whenever it is scheduled, DC Comics do seem to be continuing with the production of a series of Watchmen prequel comics by a variety of talented writers and artists But should they? Here are a few thoughts worth considering.
The Contract
Alan Moore definitely argues the ethics behind the original contract he signed with[...]
Yesterday I ran what I believe is the first definitive creator casting for one of a number of Watchmen prequel mini-series, from a primary source "Watchmen 2" rapidly became the highest Twitter trending topic in the world I'm not sure if that's ever happened for a comic before.
But it also unearthed a couple[...]
