NXT Sinks to 49th Place, Loses Viewership and Demo to AEW Dynamite
Just one week after a hotly contested ratings battle that saw WWE NXT top AEW Dynamite in viewership while Dynamite won the 18-49 demographic, AEW scored a conclusive victory by trouncing NXT in both rating and viewership. NXT fell all the way to 49th place on the Cable rankings and head 150,000 less viewers than AEW for the night. AEW featured a highly-anticipated main event of Jon Moxley vs. Brian Cage for the AEW Championship during a special Fight for the Fallen episode. That main event was originally meant to go head to head with NXT's Keith Lee vs. Adam Cole main event that bolstered NXT's ratings last week. However, NXT did feature a big main event this week as well as Io Shirai defended her NXT Women's Championship against Tegan Nox.
AEW Dynamite Rules the Night, Defeats Guy Fieri
AEW ranked fifth for the night amongst all cable programs, according to Showbuzz Daily. That's with a .29 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, up from last week's .28. Dynamite's viewership was 788,000, up from 713,000 last week. The win is especially sweet for AEW because they also defeated rival Guy Fieri's Guy's Grocery Games show in the key demo, though Fieri did draw more total viewers.
NXT Sees a Massive Drop in Ratings and Viewership
The big story is NXT's massive drop, falling to 49th place in the rankings from 24th place last week. NXT scored a .14 in the 18-49 demo, from a .20 last week. Viewership also fell drastically from 759,000 viewers to 633,000.
The Bottom Line 'Cause Chad Said So
A lot of people are probably expecting The Chadster to freak out about this, but I'm doing my best to take this calmly and rationally. Look, everybody has a down week sometimes, even my beloved WWE. Right? Plus, AEW's episode had a special name, Fight for the Fallen, while NXT was just regular NXT. Clearly NXT needs to start giving fancy names to every one of their shows from now on. But no, really, I'm fine. Just fine. Oh god I'm not fine!!! AAAAUUUGGGHHH!
