Japanese Schoolgirl Confidential Brought Forward

Why do I suddenly think that this will be the most read post of the day? You're all just so predictable.

Husband and wife team Brian (Kotaku) Ashcraft and Shoko Ueda have written a new book, Japanese Schoolgirl Confidential, that's been a hit in Japan and is now eeking its way out through the West.

The authors look at the Japanese Schoolgirl. I'm sure they do. But mostly, it's a look at the influence of the icon and stereotype and how she has been used in pop culture and media, including a large focus on manga, including Sailor Moon and Neon Genesis Evangelion.

The book was originally announced for an western release in August, but interest has brought the schedule up, to late July.

Just in time for San Diego, obviously.
