SE: NYC '15 – Brian Bendis Says Spider-Man *Is* In Captain America 3
A while ago we ran a bunch of Marvel Studios rumours that were widely dismissed at the time but, one by one, seem to have come true. So far at least.
Amongst them, we stated that Captain America: Civil War would feature a "fourteen year old Peter Parker, Spider-Man".
The age may have been an exaggeration, as they seem to have been auditioning eighteen year olds, but it suggested a direction for the films away from the twenty-somethings to the teenager Spidey.
But as to his presence at all, at the Brian Bendis Spotlight Panel at Special Edition: NYC, CBR picked up this particular mention…
While discussing bringing Spider-Man into the "New Avengers" launch back in 2005, Bendis said there was much debate during a Marvel retreat amongst the writers, with many adamant that Spider-Man was not an Avenger.
"The same thing happened when they heard Spider-Man is going to be in ['Captain America: Civil War'] the movie," Bendis said, then looked over to panel host Ryan Penagos, who shook his head in ignorance, not confirming anything or adding any info.
"Allegedly," Bendis added. "Or he's going to be in 'Batman v Superman.'"
Brian Bendis is part of the Marvel Brain Trust, comic book writers who help out the Marvel Studios side. Amongst other things, Bendis write the after-credits sequence of the first Iron Man movie which introduced Samuel Jackson as Nick Fury. So he does know of what he speaks….
