Thursday Runaround – Tommy Lee Jones Flies The Flag

CapWatch: Hayley Atwell confirms that Tommy Lee Jones will be in the Captain America movie. Thanks Hayley!

CubicleWatch: Pajiba report that Ken Kwapis will be directing a live-action movie based on the Dilbert comic strip.

The Jonah Hex trailer seems to be in response to poor reaction to the first, by upping the supernatural elements that execs may have believed might have otherwise put people off. The Wylde Wylde West indeed…

ErroWatch: The Icelandic press catch up with the Erro/Brian Bolland story – and in doing so basically swipe and transpose the Bleeding Cool story. Which is terribly ironic given the nature of the story.. (UPDATE: The article now mentions and credits Bleeding Cool. Which is nice)

TechWatch: Could this be the new comic book "floppy" format?

WorkWatch: Bob Greenberger sets down the problems with being a freelancer writer as he suddenly finds himself without work. This on a day when I'm about to go into an advertising office to work for Si Spurrier's brother-in-law (he's in radio, he knows me from my other work, I've been writing for home for him of late, yes its a hell of a coincidence). So, yes, I'm taking Bob's words to heart.

CharityWatch: No sooner did Brighton's Hero Run  recapture the greatest gathering of superheroes for the Guinness Book Of World Records, it looks like Melbourne is giving it a go this Saturday, and looking to break the record, standing at just over a thousand, by three times!

SpideyWatch: MTV report that the casting for Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the new movie is down to a final five – Jamie Bell, Alden Ehrenreich, Frank Dillane, Andrew Garfield and Josh Hutcherson.

BoyWatch: Garth Ennis sees The Boys in movie terms as a much easier sell than Preacher.

It would be quite easy to take 'The Boys' and take the core team of five and just have them as a team that surveils and occasionally beats up superheroes… That's a simple enough concept that you could isolate it and put into a two-hour film as a self-contained story.

Is that the sound of certain people at DC Comics kicking themselves?

CoverWatch: More DC 75th Anniversary variant covers… which mean of course you now have no need to buy them. Hmm.
