CLiNT Gets Bosnian Competition – STRIP Magazine
British comics industry mainstay John Freeman is to edit a new British adult-aimed comic anthology for the news stand. And it has nothing at all to do with Mark Millar.
Instead it's a project from Bosnian publisher Print Media for later in the year, with original work from familiar names including PJ Holden, James Hudnall, John Ridgeway and more, mixing up sci-fi, action and comedy. Strip Magazine.
PrintMedia already publish three similar titles in Bosnia, Strip Magazin, Plavi Vjesnik and Metal Hurlant – now they hope to do the same in the UK. They will also publish a number of graphic novels to accompany the magazine including Iron Moon by Keith Page and the UK rights for James Hudnall's Age Of Heroes, which will now be published in colour.
Marvel UK once published a wonderful newstand magazine called Strip, that combined Marshal Law reprints with original work from Gary Erskine and Glenn Dakin. That was around the time we also has the likes of Crisis and Deadline on the stands too. With STRIP, CLiNT, the mainstay Viz and a revived 2000AD, is this a new golden age for the adult British newsagent comic book? I really do hope so…
