IDW Gains Marketshare From Marvel And DC, As Justice League Of America #1 Tops The February 2013 Charts
It's been a while since DC Comics topped the North American direct market charts, but Justice League Of America #1 did that admirably. With Batman and Justice League also in the top four and Detective Comics in the top ten, they did a lot better in this regard than in recent month.
However in share of dollars spent in the direct comics, DC plunged below the psychologically important 30% mark, dropping from January's 31.61% to February's 29.22%. Their share of comics sold also fell, from 35.41% to 32.89%.
But it wasn't all good news for rivals Marvel, who saw their share of dollars slightly rise from 34.82% to 34.86% but their unit share drop from 40.23% to 38.46%.
So where did this share go? IDW it seems who, on the back of My Little Pony, saw their dollar marketshare rise from 6.30% to 7.09% and their individual comic share rise from 3.92% to 6.04%.
It;s also worth noting that year on year so far, even in the afterglow of the New 52 relaunch, 2013 is still almost a fifth up in terms of sales on 2012.
Ands despite a seeming lack of publicity, League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Nemo: Heart Of Ice tops the graphic novel charts, outselling the recent Batman collection, Adventure Time, Walking Dead and the usual favourites. They've still got it…
