Dark Knight III Is About The Liberation Of Kandor And The Master Race Are The Kryptonians – Frank Miller Talks Plot

Watch out! DC Comics media partner CBR has spoiled the final page of the first issue of Dark Knight III: The Master Race. They gave away the issue end reveal and the resulting surprise about Batman's nature in the series. It's been approved by DC PR… which hopefully means there are further twists and reveals to come.

Well, Frank Miller attended Paris Comic Con last weekend and, away from DC PR folk, gave an interesting interview about the plot of Dark Knight III: The Master Race. Which may suggest something else.

While Batman will always be a major protagonist, in Dark Knight III, Superman will play a greater role. The plot revolves around the release of the citizens trapped in the Bottle City of Kandor, the capital of Krypton, the birthplace of Superman.

In the story, Batman frees one million people from the Bottle City. Superman and the other heroes must then join together to fight them and prevent the conquest of the Earth.

The Master Race? It refers to the Kryptonians of Kandor.

Miller sees his role as a writer as to make people react. He wants angry reactions and furious critics, this is what makes him happy and lets him feel he's achieved something.

I thinks that's going to be mission accomplished.

Mind you, he says that while he wouldn't change a thing about The Dark Knight Returns, he does have some misgivings about The Dark Knight Strikes Back regarding how it treated the theme of age. Expect that to be a central point of The Master Race, not just a change in character's physicality but also their maturity and experience – this is a Batman who no one can deceive.

Miller defines Batman as the smartest man in the world, able to defeat Superman, and now facing millions of Superman. But Frank would still bet on the bat… though he will need others to help him…
