The Doctor Who/Doctor's Daughter Meeting You've Been Waiting For… (Lost Dimension SPOILERS)
This Saturday is Doctor Who Comics Day. And ahead of that, Titan Comics have published the first issue of their new multi-Doctor story The Lost Dimension.
Doctor Who: The Lost Dimension: Alpha #1 by Cavan Scott, George Mann, Rachael Stott and Cris Bolson out today sees the Doctor – or the Doctors – reunited with Jenny, also known as The Doctor's Daughter, the character who was genetically cloned from The Tenth Doctor's DNA back in 2008 in the TV show. And sees the Doctors and friends pitted against the all-consuming, universe destroying Void. Now, every Doctor must play their part to save…everything.
But for meta-fans, you get an extra special scene.
In the TV show, Jenny was played in 2008 by Georgia Moffett, the real-life daughter of actor Peter Davison who played the Fifth Doctor. She also married David Tennant, the Tenth Doctor. So from a certain perspective, the Doctor's Daughter is literally the Doctor's Daughter. And the Doctor's Wife too for that matter. Which all sounds very Game Of Thrones doesn't it? And Titan Comics doesn't have that license.
So in Doctor Who: The Lost Dimension: Alpha #1, we get a very special scene. One that fans have waited for. With the Fifth Doctor at the console. Spoilers…
And a page brimming with metatextual context.
"Dad"… very nice… hang on, what was that last line? Oh no, it's all going Game Of Thrones again, isn't it?
Yeah, not making it any better…
Doctor Who: The Lost Dimension: Alpha by Cavan Scott, George Mann, Rachael Stott and Cris Bolson is published by Titan Comics today as well The Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor Year Three #9 by Alex Paknadel and I. N. J. Culbard. Here are the official previews for both, as well as another preview for next week's Doctor Who: The Lost Dimension #2 – Ninth Doctor Special by Cavan Scott, Adriana Melo and Cris Bolson.
