Could Superman's Red Underwear Have Delayed Doomsday Clock?
This is just a theory. Joining up dots. Possibly making it up as I go along. I know, I know, you think that's true of every Bleeding Cool story, but it's not. It's the exception, and when it happens I tell you. Like I'm doing now. Here.
Okay, let's get on with it.
We mentioned earlier that the Batman seen in Doomsday Clock had a new costume. And that it is the costume that Batman in the regular DC Universe will be wearing when time catches up with Doomsday Clock. Doomsday Clock is the DC Universe's very near future, and so reflects the continuity of that day – the protests, the Supermen Hypothesis, all that. And now Doomsday Clock has been delayed and delayed, switching to a bi-monthly schedule.
And Batman's new suit.
But what else does it represent? In Doomsday Clock, we've only seen Superman in his underpants, not in costume.
And also confirmation that the Last Kryptonian doesn't sleep completely in the buff. Well, no one wants to see his Doomsday Cock, do they?
What all of you? Well sorry, that's reserved for Lois Lane – and Dr Manhattan.
Well, another delayed book was Action Comics #1000. We already get the idea that the Action Comics 80 Years Hardcover will put Superman back in his red trunks, or his underpants-on-the-outside as pop culture has it.
Could it be that Superman will appear in his red trunks in Doomsday Clock? And that, as Action Comics #1000 has been delayed, so have issues of Doomsday Clock, so as not to spoil the reveal for Action Comics #1000? And his first appearance in Doomsday Clock was some kind of underwear foreshadowing?
Pure mindless speculation. Probably a load of pants…
