Hachette Launches 2000 AD Partwork To The UK Market As 'The Ultimate Collection'
Regular Bleeding Cool readers will know of the history of partwork publications in the UK newsagent marketplace, and how Eaglemoss found a formula for the Marvel and then DC lead figurines that also invaded the direct market, as well.
You may also be aware that Steve White, ex-EIC at Titan Comics and artist extraordinaire, had made the jump to mainstream publisher Hachette, working on their partwork publications.
Well, that all came to fruition this weekend at the London Super Comic Con, as Steve White was on hand to show off the new 2000 AD Hachette partwork, in the model that they republish Marvel comics for the UK marketplace in a series of collectible hardcovers with composite spine image.
And now, thanks to Steve White, they are doing the same to 2000 AD's backlist of comic book stories over the decades too. And yes, that comes with a composite spine image by Boo Cook, too, which is also available as a massive print, in case you wanted to get the image without collecting all the books and lining them up on your bookshelf.
Initial volumes will include Slaine – The Horned God, The Ballad of Halo Jones, Shakara and Strontium Dog – The Kreeler Conspiracy.
The first volumes should be in shops now, or very soon, and subscriptions are available here. Hachette will publish two books a month, and subscribers get special deals and extra content.
Oh, and premium subscribers get figurines included, starting with this classic Nemesis The Warlock…
