A New Boutique App For Graphic Novels – "Sequential"
Russell Willis of publishers Panel Nine said that his new comics app 'Sequential' will be a store front for graphic novels by Blank Slate, Knockabout, Myriad, Jonathan Cape, Abrams and First Second.
Speaking on the Panel Borders podcast with Alex Fitch, he said;
"We're going to be releasing a container app called Sequential… basically what we're doing is we're taking the apps that we've done – with Eddie Campbell, David Lloyd and Hunt Emerson – and we're putting those apps into a container app, but even more excitingly than that, we're bringing all of the world's leading graphic novel publishers into this. We're not having anything to do with the superhero publishers – they've got other things and they can stay well away – what we are talking about is companies like Blank Slate, Knockabout, Myriad, Jonathan Cape, Abrams, First Second…
We either have agreed or about to agree with all those companies and more to deliver their graphic novels in the deluxe Panel Nine format within the new app called Sequential, so you'll be able to go to a place where all of the great graphic novels that you would hope to see if you went into a book store, would all be there, undisturbed by spandex…
We've done this very delibrately and tied about with all these publishers, because we think it's about time there's a place people could go digitally on thier tablets – first of all the iPad – and be able to get all that great stuff and find new stuff they haven't seen before."
Later in the podcast Charles Kriel talks about the app he's running an indiegogo campaign for – which aims to be 'an iTunes for comics', to allow you to mix pirated comics with ones bought online – and one of the perks (for $1200) is the printers proofs for V For Vendetta…
