The Abuse Of Prince Philip, The Duke Of Edinburgh, In The New Kingsman Comic (SPOILERS)
Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh is the husband and consort of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth realms. He also has the reputation of being a bigot.
So some might enjoy the new Kingsman: Red Diamond comic book by Rob Williams and Simon Fraser, based on the Secret Service comic by Mark Millar, Matthew Vaughn and Dave Gibbons, for its portrayal of Philip. Les the more mannered and considered portrayal of Matt Smith in The Crown, and more…
…well, more Larry David. Strapped up with a ball gag and kidnapped over Brexit-related issues. And naturally Eggsy is called upon to save the day. Not that Phillip can't be a bit handy himself.
But he needs the help of a superspy with a good suit.
Not that he;s entirely helpful when he understands that his rescuer is a Peckham lad.
Punching Prince Phillip in the face. I'm not sure if that counts as an act of treason for the creators, but it may be handy for Simon Fraser that he's currently working in the UK. Rob Williams, your phones are about to be tapped.
Still, if Eggsy can get away with it…
It also sets of the themes of this comic book well, about class, snobbery and expectations, with Phillips's attitude to Eggsy being reflected in Eggsy's old schoolfriends' attitudes towards him…
