Campaign Started to Help Pay Tom Lyle's Medical Bills
Tom Lyle, longstanding comic book creator and professor in sequential arts, passed away earlier this week. Patrick Paris, his brother-in-law has launched a Go Fund Me campaign to help pay the medical bills that he and his wife, Sue, concurred. He writes,
On September 25, 2019, Tom Lyle, my brother-in-law, experienced an unexpected brain aneurysm which immediately put him in a coma and Intensive Care. After surgery and extensive efforts to make him regain consciousness, a MRI revealed that he had permanent and substantial brain damage. Sadly, this intense eight week long journey to save Tom ended with his death on November 19, 2019 and left his wife, Sue, with staggering medical bills despite insurance. All funds will go directly to help her with this unexpected debt which mounts daily as the bills from various doctors and two separate hospitals keep coming. Tom loved Sue very much and almost everyone who knew Tom, knew about Sue because he talked about her constantly. He would not have wanted her to live with this burden hanging over her head. Your donation would honor Tom by helping the person he loved most in this world, his beloved wife, Sue.
After being started yesterday, it has already raised over $13,000. Contributors to date include Howard Mackie, JT Krul, Clayton Cowles, Al Ewing, Rob Williams, Jon Malin, Mark Waid, Michael Davis, Bob McLeod, Paul Levitz, Janice Chiang, Tim Taylor, Larry Hama and more, including an anonymous $1000 donation.
