Could Retailers Save Money Ordering The DC New 52 Hardcover From Amazon?
As Heidi MacDonald said when she got her review copy "this thing is heavy. And big." The New 52 DCU compilation hardcover featuring all 52 of September's first issues plus extra gubbins ships in a couple of weeks.
But here's the thing. It's currently on sale at Amazon.com for $90, as opposed to the $150 retail price. That's a whopping 40% discount.
Now normally retailers will get a larger discount than that from Diamond Comic Distributors to sell on to their customers and make a reasonable profit on each book to stay in business- the kind of profit Amazon doesn't really need to.
But retailers also have to pay freight charges from Diamond. And on a book this size and this heavy, that could eat up quite a lot.
And Amazon, for their sins, offer free shipping.
It is unlikely this price will be available for long, and when released, the Amazon US discount may be closer to the Amazon UK discount, around 25%.
But if any retailer wants to up their order of this monstrosity, this might well be an opportunity…
Bleeding Cool does not get review copies from DC. We just have to make do…
