David Dastmalchian Writes a New Dark Horse Series, Count Crowley: Reluctant Midnight Monster Hunter
Actor David Dastmalchian will write an upcoming mini-series for Dark Horse Comics, the publisher revealed EX-X-XCLUSIVELY via media partner THR Wednesday. Called Count Crowley: Reluctant Midnight Monster Hunter, the series, set int he 80s, follows a TV journalist who moves back to her hometown to host a late night monster movie show, only to learn that the show's previous host, the titular Count Crowley, went missing in the course of duty of monster hunting. Now, Jerri Bartman must take up the cause. Artist Lukas Ketner co-created the series with Dastmalchian.
Here's what Dastmachian had to say about leaving the low-paying world of Hollywood to join the lucrative comics biz:
Partnering with Dark Horse Comics has been one of the greatest experiences of my career. Since my childhood passion for comics and the Creature Feature in Kansas City, I have dreamt of conjuring the world of Count Crowley Personal themes of addiction shape my writing and I'm so grateful to present a terrifying tale about confronting dogmatism that's lovingly reverent to classic horror and the power of myth. This may be '80s nostalgia but the importance of re-examining what we think we know is as timeless as ever.
The first of four issues hits stores on October 23rd.
